FALL IN LOVE WITH COLOR
by Jan Braswell
For many, fall brings to mind
the bright harvest colors of
Autumn. Hues of orange, red
and brown are also colors that
will be featured as part of the
design industry’s 2009-2010
color trend palette.
There’s no better way to
revive or remake a space—
than with color.
However, before you throw
caution to the wind and paint
on your wall, here are a few
tips to help you make
choosing color easier.
What colors do you love?”
Look in your closet and pick
out the clothes and
accessories you wear the
most.
Also, what colors are you most
attracted to when considering
paint, upholstery, and
accessories for your home?
These are the colors you’ll
want to start with when
charting the color path for
your space.
FROM THE EDITOR
In this time of tense economic
turmoil--I believe the one
place each individual should
feel safety, peace and comfort
is in their home.
Whether that’s a million dollar
mansion or a studio
apartment—the place that you
call home should be your
“haven.”
It’s with this notion in mind that
we bring you Designs Inspired
For Living TV.com. We hope
we'll inspire you to make your
home more lovely, charming,
peaceful…and well, a little
more “you.”
We see our homes as a work in
progress. As we evolve and
change—so do our tastes,
needs and budgets. But
whatever phase you're in--
commit to making the most of it!
Whether you can hire a top
designer or are on a shoe -
string budget and can only
afford to dream and plan—it’s
our desire that you will find
something on DIFLTV.com of
interest and assistance to you.

GOING GREEN
by Glenn Kraemer
Often people ask me if it’s
possible to have a
“successful” lawn using an all
organic system. The simple
answer to the question is
“yes."
However, that depends on
what your definition of
“successful” and/or
“organic” is!
For instance, although most
people try to eliminate
dandelions from their
property --- I have had some
customers tell me that
dandelions are “God’s
flowers.”
My point is that success
comes in many forms, so a
few “weeds” here or there
isn't a big deal for some,
while for others, it just isn't
acceptable.
When I teach my turf grass
classes, someone always asks
about organic options.
I have tried many organic
products and have come to
some conclusions.
For weed, fungus and insect
control, organic products are
generally ineffective and/or
expensive.
On the other hand, I believe
that organic fertilizers should
be used more!
Nevertheless, in my opinion,
it is almost impossible to
have what I would call a
“perfect” lawn, using
nothing but an organic
approach.
GET OUT THE DOOR
ON TIME & LESS STRESSED!
by Sue Anderson
Routines and habits can help us
live a more ordered, effortless
life which ultimately cuts down
on our stress level, too.
Your children will learn these
valuable habits from watching
you and will ultimately be able
to carry these same habits
through life with them as well.
As a single parent for most of
my children's school years, I can
attest to the value of these much
needed time management tips.
Plan for the unexpected. As a
rule, have your children arise
15 minutes earlier than normal
every day.
This extra time allows the
children to wake up and
prepare for school more
relaxed which will help them
leave more prepared to learn &
face the day.
This also is an added cushion in
case little Suzie spills juice
on her school outfit or Billy
suddenly remembers there is
one more paper he needs help
with.
Although the fall and winter
seasons are a wonderful time
of the year, for a family with
children, staying on task and
on time can be especially
harrowing.
In areas where inclement
weather is a factor—arriving
on time is even more
challenging.
Sue Anderson shares some tips
on how to keep down stress by
keeping your children on track.
