(Fall In Love with Color continued...)

The Paint-Free Zone. Incorporating color doesn’t
always mean you have to paint.

If you feel good about the primary color pal
ette in
your home--then  you can work in current “color
trends” by simply adding  colorful elements to your
space via accessories like accent rugs and art.
Spruce up your décor with vibrantly colored throw
pillows or bring a fun animal print into the mix.
Consider utlra suede and sunbrella fabrics which are
popular textures for use in upholstered items
because they’re cleanable and durable.

Dare to be different!  Don’t be afraid to change
things up! A few new accessories can change the look
and feel of the whole room.  Take those old pillows
and either recover them or buy new ones.   Try some
new artwork, or change the mats and reframe prints
that you love.

Position your color to “Pop.”  Help make your
accent pieces and color really stand out in the room
by getting rid of clutter.  For instance, rather than
using six small things, consider replacing them with
one large piece that really makes a statement.

Stay focused. Resist the temptation to add every
new hue and color you see this fall into your
décor.
Find one thing that you really love—maybe a
piece of art or a beautiful pillow--and build around it.
You may be surprised to hear, that in reality, design
color pallates really don’t change drastically from
season to season.  Instead, however, new hues and
tones are introduced into the existing color palette so
that the changing trends in the marketplace—and in
your home—aren’t too overwhelming but more
gradual.

Build it right. When you are looking to purchase
bigger and more foundational items, such as
upholstery or flooring, it’s always a good idea to get
the advice of a professional designer.  They’re more
familiar with what is available in the home furnishing
arena and they can offer innovative ideas. Because
most people build their entire décor around their
foundational items—it’s important to have a great
base from which to start.

In my opinion
, decorating is never static.  I never
think, “
Well, that room is done.” It’s always a work in
progress.  In addition,  by changing even the small
things, you’ll keep your home current and fresh and
make it a place your family will love hanging out in!

 FALL SCENTS

Although you may feel as if you've stumbled into fall
(how did summer come and go so quickly?) now that
it’s here—get ready to make the most of what’s
happening outside—on the inside
by thinking “fall
comforts.”

This fall season, as you think about spicing up your
décor using wall colors and accents in rich earth tones
such as greens, oranges, reds and chocolates---
consider adding another layer of warmth by bringing
in some of the more intangible comforts of fall by
arousing your senses with the smells of aromatherap
y.

Now-a-days, there are many scents to choose from as
well as various types of fresheners from which to
choose.

A trendy way to make your home more aromatic is to
use
natural reed diffusers.

Rattan reed is very porous and contains individual
sections from top to bottom that allows reeds to
transfer liquids easily.

In most instances, the reeds, which act as wicks, are
placed inside a bottle filled with fragrant essential oils
and the aroma is then transferred from the bottom of
the reed up to the top of the reed and into the air.

Some of the advantages or using diffusers aside from
the obvious benefits of arom
atherapy are low or no
flame risks and the ability to freshen your home’s air
without the use of chemicals or synthetic fragrances
used in many other types of room fresheners.

However, keep in mind that not all diffusers are equal.
Diffusers vary in price and in effectiveness.

Nevertheless, regardless of whether you use fragrant
candles or flameless methods such as natural diffusers,
this season's scents can be a wonderful way to create
atmosphere and ambiance in your home.

So, this fall make your home cozy and inviting for
yourself and your guests with the fragrances of the
season. After all, it just makes scents!

Increase Efficiency
and Cut Costs
This fall and winter, why not
save money on your utility
bills by becoming more
energy efficient?

Simply making a few easy
adjustments around your
home could help you
conserve energy and add
more money to your
household budget’s bottom
line.

•Seal cracks and leaks around
doors and windows. These
inexpensive fixes can help
you save up to $150 per year
on your energy bills.

•Dress warmly inside your
home and lower your
thermostat by two degrees
and you could see a savings
of about 4% on your heating
bill.

•At night, turn your heat
down. If you get chilly, use
extra blankets
.
•When you leave the house
for extended periods, turn
down the heat.

•In the evenings, keep
curtains closed and help
keep in the heat.

•Consider using rugs on bare
floors to act as insulation.

•Change your furnace’s dirty
filters and you could save 5%
on your heating bill.

•Check doors for proper
insulation. When you place
your hand on the inside of
your door—if it feels cooler
than the inside walls—it’s
probably time to get a better
insulated door.

•During  the winter, run
ceiling fan blades clockwise—
this will push the warm air
down from the ceiling into
the room.

•Install a furnace alarm to
alert you when to change
your dirty filter which will
help your furnace work more
efficiently.

•You could save 5% on your
heating bill by simply
changing dirty filters!

•Get the entire family
involved by setting goals for
lowering energy usage
monthly and tracking your
progress.  Celebrate when
your goals are achieved!
